The Ice Age National Scenic
Trail winds through 31
Wisconsin counties, tracing the
edge of the last glacier that
spread across Wisconsin more
than 10,000 years ago.
When complete, the trail will be
a 1,200 mile-long continuous
footpath designed to connect
communities, preserve and
protect Wisconsin's cultural and
glacial heritage, and allow
natural spaces for hiking,
backpacking, snowshoeing,
and bird-watching among other
recreational activities.
More than half of Wisconsin's
residents live within 20 miles of
the Trail.
